WIPs: Works (of Fiction) in Progress
WIPs showcases “works (of fiction) in progress.”
But the term “in progress” doesn’t necessarily refer to an early draft stage of an author’s work. The stories and excerpts published here are polished and good to go.
WIPs is a literary journal that features the work of authors involved in a book project: a novel, a short story collection, or similar creative endeavor. WIPs gives authors a chance to share some of the work that would otherwise remain in a vacuum until the book project is completed and the author’s manuscript is finally published.
Likewise, readers get an early look, a special preview, of fine contemporary fiction as it’s produced. And WIPs interviews every author about his or her piece, and its context in the broader work in progress, to help build momentum and enthusiasm for the author’s project.
