The Shrug is a lit mag comprised of very short experimental literature, available in print and digital formats. There are enough lit mags publishing in stanzas and paragraphs, we publish everything else.
We shrug off traditional forms in favor of more daring material. The writing in these volumes come in forms as varied as Craigslist posts, fake movie reviews, epistolaries, receipts, horoscopes, prayers, nutritional labels, contracts, lists, and so on.
The Shrug is measured to fit in Levi’s back pockets, and will probably fit in your back pocket, too, if you have one.
We’ve been featured in the LA Times, Electric Literature, The Guardian, Dazed & Confused, LA Canvas, Biblioklept and many more.
