Pismire is an audio journal for experimental poetry. There are several journals that include recordings of their poetry, but at Pismire, the recitation must be integral to the poem's success. For example, if a poem contains a hemistich, like Old English poetry, but the poet wants the reader to read the left column first, then the right column, and then across the columns, how would the reader know this without explicit direction or a recitation? That is Pismire's raison d'être, and the previous example is one of many situations where the reader needs a recitation to appreciate the poem fully. Pismire publishes those troublesome, pissant poems.
