Founded in 1986 by University of Houston faculty members Philip Lopate and Donald Barthelme, Gulf Coast: A Journal of Literature and Fine Arts seeks to publish and promote quality literature in our local and national communities as well as to teach excellence in literary publishing to graduate and undergraduate students. Gulf Coast has enhanced its community presence thanks to the Gulf Coast Reading Series, its annual spring release party, and the annual Gulf Coast CLMP Indie Book Fair—three events that bring esteemed writers, editors, and publishers to the Houston area.
